Ash is an independently produced editorial project created in collaboration with stylist Bernardo Resende and envisioned for Zara. Rooted in a minimalist fashion aesthetic, the series captures an understated urban mood, exuding quiet elegance and thoughtful composition.

Shot entirely on 35mm film using a Nikon F3 with a 50mm lens, the project emphasises intimacy through analogue texture. The film grain adds depth and a subtle cinematic quality to each frame, enhancing the visual narrative.

The styling is subtle and contemporary, reflecting Zara’s refined yet accessible aesthetic. Garments are carefully selected to accentuate cut, silhouette and material. Movement is minimal yet deliberate, enabling the subject’s posture and the fabric’s flow to dictate the visual rhythm.

The presence of a cigarette in several frames introduces a sense of introspection and solitude, hinting at moments of quiet loneliness amidst the urban backdrop.
Captured in natural light, the images favour soft contrast and tonal harmony. Post-production enhances a cold, muted colour palette while preserving the warmth of the orange hues, creating a delicate balance between emotional distance and subtle warmth.
