Desert’s Rose is a poetic series shot on film, capturing the quiet power of femininity and desert stillness through tactile textures and soft light. Drawing inspiration from a Vanessa Bruno campaign featuring Kate Bosworth, the project blends subtle movement with analogue intimacy.
It creates a dreamlike interplay between minimalism and quiet strength — a visual ode to feminine introspection and spatial intimacy. Although it does not showcase fashion in a conventional sense, Desert’s Rose is firmly grounded in the visual language of fashion editorials, shifting the focus from clothing to mood, gesture and emotional tone.
The series was shot entirely on 35 mm film using a Rolleiflex with a 50 mm lens. These formats were chosen to balance narrative spontaneity with formal precision. Captured exclusively in natural light, particularly during the golden hour, light is used as a narrative device to shape skin, fabric and landscape. The styling is intentionally minimal and earthy, using flowing silhouettes to evoke a sense of timeless, bohemian tranquillity.
The analogue process, the deliberateness of film, the texture of grain and the discipline of light and timing become part of the emotional and conceptual core of the work. Desert’s Rose reflects the belief that stillness can be expressive and that presence can be a form of strength in itself.
